By Julianna Saah, Overton City

“Be who you want to be this week.” This is one of many statements our counselors have thrown at us since Sunday. So, I thought about this statement, who do I really want to be? Do I, an introverted girl easily intimidated at the mere thought of public speaking, want to continue to sit back and listen to what the others have to say and just nod in agreement as usual? No, I don’t!

And just like that, I, Julianna Saah, became the girl who ran for every office that she could. Now, this did not exactly work out in my favor, but regardless, I’m still proud of myself for stepping way out of my comfort zone.

Thank you, Girls State, for showing me how to raise my voice in my own way and for providing me with a group of girls that I will remember for many years to come.
