Coming into this week I had the same worries I am sure most other girls here had: I was apprehensive about what the week had to hold. However, there has never been a dull moment, and I may even fall asleep on the way home.
My fears quickly faded away as I began to settle in and meet these young women. VGS has made me much more outgoing. Most importantly, VGS has increased my respect for veterans. After only two days here at Girls State, I made a promise to myself that I would never again walk by a man or woman who has served in the armed forces without thanking him or her for his or her bravery and sacrifice.
This week has given me a new perspective on life, new memories, and new friendships that will last a lifetime. I am immensely blessed to have had this opportunity.
