No score and just a few days ago, our fathers (and mothers) brought forth on this campus, a scared girl, weighed down with bags and dedicated to the proposition that she had no idea what was going on.

Girls State has been to me the way the Gettysburg Address has been to our country: short, but influential to all for years to come. I came here with the same angst as other delegates did. We could not find a single parking spot, so I said, “That’s our cue that we should go back home.”

Luckily, my mom is not a pushover, and I stayed. I almost feel like a new person.

Abraham Lincoln said about Gettysburg: “The World will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here.” In the long run, I will not remember the speeches given or the positions held, but I will always remember the wonderful things each and every one of us did here at Volunteer Girls State.
