Sunday, May 26 – Saturday, June 1, 2019

The 2019 session of ALA Volunteer Girls State was held on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, from Sunday, May 26 through Saturday, June 1.

Citizens ran for offices on the city, county and state levels. Former Army Major Kathy Isaacson addressed the citizens on Monday night, and Tennessee State Senator Raumesh Akbari spoke to Girls State on Wednesday morning. The girls performed their Fast Songs on Tuesday night.

Freedom Rider Patricia Jenkins-Armstrong spoke to the citizens on Thursday afternoon, and the Olympics were held Thursday night.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee spoke to Girls State on Friday morning. McKinna Harvin from Cookeville High School was elected 2019 ALA VGS Governor. Harvin was inaugurated on Friday night.
